About Us
The
Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics Research Unit was established in
1977 in the Department of
Agriculture at the University of
Reading. In the last twenty years VEERU has established a reputation
as one of the leading centres of research and training in veterinary
epidemiology and livestock economics
VEERU
is a multi-disciplinary team with skills in Veterinary Epidemiology,
Livestock Economics and Planning, Laboratory Management, Animal
Production, and Information Technology. We are committed to improving
the efficiency of livestock production and enhancing the well being of
producers, consumers and animals.
VEERU
offers a series of short and ad hoc courses, covering a wide
range of issues relevant to professionals as diverse as Veterinarians,
Agricultural and Livestock Economists, Animal Production Specialists,
Veterinary Laboratory Technicians and Managers, Livestock Project
Managers and those involved in Livestock Research, Extension and
Education. Our training philosophy combines theory, practice, and
participant interaction, to offer students both conceptual understanding
and practical skills. All staff are actively involved in training,
consultancy, research and development activities, enabling a constant
flow of ideas and experience between training programmes and
practicalities in the field.
